DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered how woodpeckers avoid getting headaches\, or how they find insects hiding under tree bark? Come along to learn about the many adaptations that help these resourceful birds to survive. We will watch woodpeckers at our birdfeeders\, search for areas where woodpeckers have been especially active in the forest\, and learn how they help our local ecosystems. Please bring binoculars if you have them; a few extras will also be provided.\n  \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, December 3.\n  \nRegister for Weird and Wonderful Woodpeckers »\n  \nMore details: This program is designed for adults. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. This program will include a hike along the Overlook Trail\, which is one of our more difficult trails with hills and exposed rocks and roots.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all nature-loving bookworms! The Literature & Nature Book Group at Baltimore Woods welcomes you to nourish and enhance your appreciation of the natural world with ongoing friendly discussions of great writing on that theme. Open to all interested adult members of the community\, we will meet at the Interpretive Center (or outside if weather permits) one Saturday a month to delve into a reading of fiction or creative nonfiction chosen by participants.\n  \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, December 3.\n  \nClick to register for the December Literature & Nature Book Group Meeting!\n  \nDiscussion leader Todd Stregiel is thrilled to have an opportunity to join with others in the community by bringing together two of his abiding passions— reading good books and appreciating nature’s wonders. He is a Skaneateles native with a dedication to lifelong learning having made a career as a teacher in  alternative and adult education settings. Todd’s wide range of interests include history\, philosophy\, nature photography\, camping\, and singing in a community choir.

SUMMARY:Discovering Wildlife Through Trail Cameras
DESCRIPTION:Trail cameras capture what your eyes may never see! With trail cameras we can observe the local ecosystem and learn all about the natural world right in our own community. We’ll be learning how to set up trail cameras and how to adjust features\, hiking to set them up around Baltimore Woods\, and taking a look at captured footage from other Baltimore Woods trail cameras. Join us at Baltimore Woods to capture the mysteries of nature with trail cameras. \nRegister for Discovering Wildlife Through Trail Cameras \n  \nMore details: This program is designed for adults. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. The first part of this program will take place inside the John A. Weeks Interpretive Center. We will then hike along trails to set up our cameras. Some of these moderate trails have packed crushed stone. The other most difficult trails have natural surfaces like dirt\, mud\, and grass\, with narrow stretches\, roots\, steps\, and rocks.
